October has been a month full of Golf events this year and the weather has been really lovely for almost all of them which is really good news, and let's hope that we will still have nice autumn weather for a few more weeks. Our last Mixed 4BBB of the year, really great organisation from Nikki, many many thanks Nikki for finding this lovely, although physical course and also for sponsoring the prizes. We had a wonderful sunny day at Rougemont, participation was good and we all enjoyed it so much. It is always great to play with different people from outside our Club and they are always so happy to be invited and play with us.

President's Cup also took place in October and unfortunately Margaret could not join us this year, but we had her with us all along. The morning started with a very thick fog, it was impossible to see anyting, no flags, bunkers, trees... it was like playing blind golf! But after a few holes it got better and for the back 9 the sun came out and let us finish the round nicely. The usual Jam prizes were given again this year, anyway this time the jams were prepared by Carol Jones, thanks Carol for finding the time to prepare these lovely jams! The winners of the day were:
Arboretum: 1st Lynette, 2nd Gabie and 3rd Marion - Longest drive: Marion - Nearest pin: Sybil Park: 1st Carol, 2nd Janice and 3rd Gill - Longest drive: Barbara vO - Nearest pin: Gill and Barbara vO |
And I am not sure if you have heard the rumor going around, but our Captain, yes me..., had a HOLE IN ONE that day!!! She took her pitch to play hole 12, a lovely short par 3 and the ball bounced really close to the pin and then directly inside the hole! OMG could not believe it!!! It was tough job afterwards to keep concentrated on the game, such an adrenaline rush!!
A couple more competitions have been played, a medal at LLN and another at Ravenstein very kindly sponsored by our lovely competition secretary Janice. |
Our annual Jane Morffew Trophy was played in September. This is the competition where we raise funds to support the Breast Cancer and all the funds collected are donated to Think Pink. If you could not play but are still willing to donate towards this good cause, you can still make a transfer to our Club bank account BE46 3101 4330 2836 just mention your name and donation for Breast Cancer.
The weather for our Jane Morffew Trophy was lovely, really sunny and warm, ideal to play golf. Sadly, the turnout of players that day was not as good as in previous years but of course things are not back to normal yet. In any case those of us who could make it and played had a lovely round of golf and the new holder of the Jane Morffew Trophy is Lynette Boydell, who had an amazing score of 41 Stableford points! Well played Lynette and congratulations! As you know the trophies are very generously donated by Chris Morffew every year and this year was the same even though he could not be with us. Hopefully next year he will be able to join us to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the Tournament. |
